Attendant on cabin ceiling after turbulence rocks Qatar flight bound for Dublin
Edited by Travel Weekly

Twelve people have been injured onboard a Qatar Airways flight flying from Doha to Dublin overnight as turbulence caused the plane to freefall for five seconds.

Dublin Airport posted an update on its ‘X’ account saying that flight QR017 from Doha had landed safely just before 1pm on Sunday local time.

“Upon landing, the aircraft was met by emergency services, including Airport Police and our Fire and Rescue department, due to 6 passengers and 6 crew [12 total] on board reporting injuries after the aircraft experienced turbulence while airborne over Turkey.”

Passengers interviewed at the arrivals hall of Dublin Airport described the experience to RTE News.

“Just going over Baghdad we felt the plane dip for about five seconds and the next thing we saw is the flight attendant just go up in the air and come straight back down,” one passenger said.

Another passenger described the experience, “food all over the plane, on the ceiling, everywhere”.

The news comes less than a week after a fatal turbulence incident on a Singapore Airlines flight.

“Flight SQ321 encountered sudden extreme turbulence over the Irrawaddy basin … The pilot declared a medical emergency and diverted the aircraft to Bangkok,” the airline said in a statement.
