AFTA announces Women In Travel summit

The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) has announced a launch event for the new year with a one day Women In Travel summit in Sydney on 13 March.

Celebrating empowerment, diversity, inclusion and shaping the future, the summit includes a series of keynote speakers, panel sessions and breakout rooms as well as networking opportunities and an on-site headshot studio for attendees to have professional photos taken.

The summit will showcase the programs and innovations that support women which have so successfully supported travel in being one of the sectors with the highest concentrations of women in the workforce.

“We want to celebrate the fact that 72 per cent of front-line employees are women and importantly 74 per cent of our middle management positions are also held by women,” Deon Long, CEO, AFTA, said.

“This Summit promotes the value of diversity and inclusion and allows us to analysis how we continue our great travel culture.

“The Women in Travel Summit will allow us to draw from and recognise the tremendous expertise and extensive experience across Australia’s Travel Sector through breakout sessions, industry leaders and key note speakers across the day long event.”

AFTA also made a decisive choice with the timing of the event.

“Our Women in Travel Summit is our first event and is timed to allow participants to maximise their travel budgets by following the CLIA Awards also being held in Sydney that week,” Long said.

ATAS businesses and employees will enjoy special discounted pricing for all events including the Women in Travel Summit and the National Travel Industry Awards in Melbourne on 18 November.

Tickets are now available on the AFTA website.
