Tourism Industry Association New Zealand chief executive Martin Snedden will step down from the role at the end of March.

Snedden, who took on the role in June 2012, departs to focus on his responsibilities at New Zealand Cricket.

The search for a new chief executive will begin immediately.

 

Singapore Airlines has said it was the "right time" to put its holiday program out to tender after being managed by Pinpoint Travel Group for 13 years.

"The SIA Holidays contract is for a three year period and was due to expire," a spokeswoman said. "To ensure the program continues to remain competitive, we felt it was the right time to put it out to tender."

 Wendy Wu Tours has been awarded the conntract, as reported in yesterday's Travel Today.

 

Tourism Portfolio has appointed Yvonne Jenkins, formerly of Business Events Sydney as its new Sydney-based business development manager leisure.

 

Mexico has partnered with the Adventure Travel Trade Association for the sixth year in a row, with ongoing investment in adventure travel expected to deliver sustainable tourism growth.

It will host its 3rd annual Adventure Travel Mexico event from August 27 to 30.

 

Thai AirAsia X has been granted its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC), with the announcement coinciding with the appointment of new chief executive Nadda Buranasiri.

The airline will lease two Airbus A330-300s in its first year of operations and will commence services from Bangkok, with the official launch date still to be confirmed.
