Qantas will upgrade another return service between Sydney and Hong Kong from a Boeing 747 to an Airbus A380 from today in a move the airline said reaffirms its commitment to Asia.

The deployment will increase the number of A380 services on the route from four to five per week. It will see capacity rise by almost 5%.

"The Qantas Group is serious about Asia and we've already increased capacity to Hong Kong by 10% this year," Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce said.

"As well as adding almost 5% more seats on this route, the aircraft swap will increase the amount of flying done by our flagship A380 fleet into Asia."

He added that it will boost inbound tourism at a time when the falling dollar "makes Australia an even more attractive destination".
