Midweek Interview with Lisa Hemstead, Technology Services Manager at Sabre Pacific
By admin

The challenge for the industry is… Keeping up with emerging technology.

The things I like about my job are… Working with the latest technology and the great team I have.

And the frustrations… Choosing the right technology from the vast range of business productivity tools available. We’re going Cloud all the way.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be... A CIO

My proudest moment was… Graduating with a Masters of IT Management from Sydney Uni.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was… Leaving my dog's poop on a neighbour’s lawn because I was out of baggies.

I relax by… Sailing and walking the dog

The last time I feared for my life… A flight that crashed in Brussels – we all made it out alive, but it was a pretty hairy crash landing. The slide was fun though.

If I can, I always try to avoid… Hot chips (but I regularly fail).

I really wish I had… More time to travel.

The best advice I’ve ever received was: If you get a bad feeling… Turn around and walk away.

I don’t understand why… some people don’t like dogs.

My greatest weakness is… Good food. I married a chef and now struggle to maintain a healthy weight – but who can say no to a delicious dinner when you get home?

And my greatest strength… Seeing the silver lining in every situation – there’s always a positive if you look for it.

If I was prime minister I would… Worry more about our planet and have more green initiatives.

If I won $1 million on the lottery I would… Take a year or two off work and travel to all my favourite destinations – in style of course.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be… Cesar Milan – and learn how to train my dog to behave better.

I’ve always wanted to travel to… Gal√°pagos Islands

My favourite holiday was… Our honeymoon – a gastronomic tour of Tuscany, Italy (run by the Slow Food Group). Amazing food, scenery, people, wine and romance.
