The challenge for the industry is… blending online and offline travel. 20 years down the track I think we’ll see a very different model in place.

The things I like about my job are… interaction with the everyday punter looking to get away on holiday, and using my experience and knowhow to help get them there.

And the frustrations… lack of time to do it in.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be a… sportsman, preferably with the Australian cricket team. Yes, that would be the life…

Qantas or Virgin? Qantas through and through.

My proudest moment was… being named dux of the 2013 Rail Plus ‘Rail Experts’ program. I’ve not been in travel long, so I feel this is a great accomplishment and shows me I’ve made the right career move.

I try to relax by… watching the Wests Tigers win matches. Alas it rarely works.

The last time I feared for my life… jumping off a boat to swim with whale sharks in Mozambique and realising there were three other ‘real’ sharks sharing the water with me.

If I can, I always try to avoid… missing out.

I really wish I had… spent the money while in Uganda on seeing the gorillas.

The best advice I’ve ever received was… hate is a wasted emotion.

I don’t understand why… airlines are not interested in reducing and recycling their waste. I hate that.

My greatest weakness is… needing to understand why something is a particular way.

And my greatest strength… cooking a tasty Caesar salad. Yes naysayers, you do cook it!

If I was prime minister I would… push to have Australia powered by 100% renewable energy sources.

If I won $1 million on the lottery I would… buy myself a house outright. Boring I know…

If I could be someone else for one day I would be… Axl Rose. I’d love to know what goes on inside that man’s head.

I’ve always wanted to travel to… Antarctica. Galapagos Islands. The rest of South America. Brazil for a World Cup. South East Asia. Silk Road. Russia. Etc.

My favourite holiday was… travelling through Tanzania on an amazing train journey – seeing zebras close enough to touch out of the open window whilst sipping on a cool Kili beer in the bar.
