Jetstar will start flying to Australia from Wellington and Queenstown.

The Trans-Tasman services will begin on December 12, flying three times a week from each city to the Gold Coast.

Head of Jetstar New Zealand Grant Kerr says the route will stimulate tourism in both countries.

The Gold Coast flights bring the number of services connecting Queenstown and Australia to 10 flights every week.

The new flights will be operated by 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.
