Australian Government announces new tourism board appointments

The Australian Government has announced the appointment of three new members to the Tourism Australia Board.

Firstly, Ms Georgina Richters, whose board experience in Queensland’s arts and cultural sectors, and her role as Deputy Chair of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Legacy Committee, will be extremely valuable to Tourism Australia. As a Luritja woman, with 20 years working in Indigenous affairs at national, state, local, and community levels, she will bring a valuable Indigenous perspective to the Board. 

Mr Ian Horne also brings decades of experience in hospitality, events, accommodation, and venue management, most recently as CEO of the South Australian Branch of the Australian Hotels Association. His work on tourism and events sector Boards, including the South Australian Tourism Commission, will provide a contemporary view of the industry’s needs.

Finally, Ms Linda Wayman brings a wealth of expertise in corporate governance as the Principal of Wayman Advisory, the Chair of Carers WA, and a former Board member of both Tourism WA and VenuesWest. This, alongside her experience in media, marketing and tourism, makes her well-placed to support the Board’s objectives.

A press release from the office of Senator the Honourable Don Farrell, the minister for trade and tourism welcomed the new board members, “I welcome the new appointees and look forward to working with them as they support Tourism Australia to boost demand and attract international travellers, including through the $125 million Come and Say G’day campaign in key global markets” the release, read
