AFTA and CLIA bring back NTIA and the port & destination showcase

It’s industry events galore as AFTA and CLIA reveal the return of two much sought-after happenings.

The National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA)  is back and is set to be bigger and better than ever, celebrating excellence and excellent partnerships.

The highly anticipated return of NTIA will be held at the International Convention Centre in Sydney on 15 October and the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) with Singapore Airlines as the major sponsor for the event this year.

The focus will be a celebration of what the Australian travel sector has overcome over the past two years and what our businesses and people now represent.

“Following the tumultuous past two years due to COVID-19, it’s so important we come together to celebrate and acknowledge the innovation, determination and resilience of our people and our sector,” Dean Long, AFTA’s CEO said.

“We thank Singapore Airlines for their incredible support and we look forward to seeing everyone at ICC in October for a much-deserved celebration and fresh approach to NTIA. Stay tuned in coming months for more exciting updates.”

Meanwhile, the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasia has revealed the return of its popular Cruise Port & Destination Virtual Showcase, giving travel agent members a chance to gain practical insight into top cruise destinations around the world.

The week-long webinar program will run from 19 to 26 July and will offer presentations from 12 CLIA executive partners, each providing essential information to ensure cruise clients get the most from their visits.

Showcase presenters will include Hong Kong Tourism Board, Port of Seattle, Tourism Western Australia, Department of Culture & Tourism Abu Dhabi, Tourism Northern Territory, PortMiami and the Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, Samoa Tourism Authority, Visit Monaco, Destination NSW, Singapore Tourism Board, Tourism & Events Queensland, and Tokyo Tourism.

Members will be able to learn more about each destination including helpful information like the location of cruise terminals, details on public transport services, touring options, and insider visitor tips.

Participants can earn three CLIA Accreditation points for each destination presentation they join live, after completing a short quiz.

There are also 10 prize packs to be won simply by collecting destination code words during each presentation.
