Oceania Cruises focuses on ‘self-care’ + launches event series with agent incentive
Onboard experiences and shore excursions that focus on ‘self-care’ will be in high demand as travellers return to cruising, according to Oceania Cruises’ regional VP Jason Worth.
And if recent research from Trend Predictions is anything to go by, cruise lines can expect a high demand for activities that involve wellness or benefits for locals.
In fact, nearly two-thirds of those surveyed (58 per cent) also agreed it’s important that their trip benefits the local community at their destination.
According to Worth, Oceania Cruises is catering to these growing trends with its Go Local tours, which are designed to connect guests with vendors in local markets, open the door for shared meals with local families and let travellers explore age-old traditions on farms and vineyards alongside local workers.
“As guests return to cruising, we are anticipating heightened demand for onboard experiences and shore excursions that encourage relaxation, mindfulness and connection with local communities,” said Worth.
“We are seeing an increased desire to support local artisans, cultures, communities and cuisine, with travellers eager to show their support and make a positive impact on both the people they visit and their own wellbeing,” Worth added.
For example, guests can learn local family traditions through their wine cellar and olive press room in Croatia, tour Sicilian markets with a local chef, or feed horses on a farm in Corfu, picking tomatoes and cucumbers, sampling fresh herbs from the garden and watching locals prepare a delicious lunch to share.
Travellers looking for a wellness angle can participate in a Hindu prayer ritual and a visit to a sacred healing water tank in Mumbai, sink into curative mud baths in Spain or experience a transformative guided meditation in Thailand imparting techniques that travellers can take home to practise in their everyday lives, just to name a few.
Exclusive event launches with agent incentive
Oceania Cruises is also hosting a series of exclusive events around Australia to celebrate its biggest collection yet.
For the first time in the brand’s history, it will launch its 2023-2024 Tropics & Exotics and 2024 Europe & Americas Collections at the same time, offering a massive choice of itineraries and destinations.
Travel agents and clients are invited to join the cruise line’s executive team to hear first-hand what makes Oceania Cruises unique, including small luxury ships, destination immersion and cuisine, plus standout voyages, unforgettable experiences and immersive shore excursions on offer in the new collections.
To further encourage travel partners to invite guests who have not sailed with Oceania Cruises before, the cruise line is offering a $500 bonus upfront commission for bookings secured for new-to-brand guests within 10 days of each event.
This is in addition to the double points available via Oceania Trade Rewards.
“A launch of this scale is a first for Oceania Cruises and we’re delighted to be hosting events once again with our valued travel partners and their key clients, especially those who are new to the Oceania Cruises experience,” said Worth.
“There’s nothing like a face-to-face event to inspire excitement and anticipation for the exceptional itineraries and shore excursions within these voyage collections, and we can’t wait to explore the highlights together at locations throughout Australia in May.”
The event series will launch on the 3 of May 2022 in Perth, followed by Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra, Melbourne, Hobart, Gold Coast, concluding in Brisbane on the 1 of June 2022.
Reservations for the New Tropics & Exotics and Europe & Americas Collections will open on the 5 of May 2022.
