Helloworld appoints new board director

Helloworld Travel has announced the appointment of Robert Dalton as an independent non-executive director of the company’s board.

Dalton has joined the Helloworld board ahead of a shareholder vote on his appointment at the company’s 2022 annual general meeting.

Helloworld’s board has appointed Dalton as a member and chairman of its audit and risk committee. He will also serve as a member of the company’s remuneration and nominations and governance committees.

Dalton has over 30 years’ accounting, advisory and leadership experience, including 25 years as a senior partner at Ernst & Young, where he focused on leadership, governance, strategy, auditing and entrepreneurship.

Since retiring from EY in December 2019, Dalton has been acting CEO of Sport Australia and the Australian Sports Commission, based in Canberra.

In August 2021, Dalton was appointed as a director of K&S Corporation, one of Australia’s largest freight companies, and is also a member of its audit committee.

Dalton is also chair of iconic sports equipment manufacturer Kookaburra Sport.

Helloworld chairman Garry Hounsell said Dalton’s extensive accounting and leadership experience across a range of organisations and industries would add to the depth of experience currently on the board.

“Robert brings 30 years’ experience across a range of organisations and industries, and [a] true commercial understanding of complex business issues,” he said.

Dalton’s appointment comes shortly after Mike Ferraro resigned as a non-executive director of Helloworld’s board.
