TTC taps Matthew Cameron-Smith as new MD for AAT Kings and Inspiring Journeys

Longstanding managing director of Trafalgar Australia, Matthew Cameron-Smith, has been internally promoted to the role of managing director of AAT Kings & Inspiring Journeys.

Cameron-Smith will commence his new role from 1 April 2019 following the resignation of Hans Belle in January.

The industry veteran has worked at the helm of Trafalgar for the past eight years and will remain at the company until 31 March to ensure a seamless transition for its next Australian MD.

In this new role, he will lead the AAT Kings team of more than 400 staff and the acclaimed Australia and New Zealand portfolio across Guided Holidays, Short Breaks and Day Tours as well as well as its Small Group Journeys collection, Inspiring Journeys.

Cameron-Smith cut his teeth at Rydges Hotels & Resorts, where he spent nine years in a range of sales and BDM roles before moving on to Tourism Australia where he worked as director of distribution and partner management for the UK and Europe and GM for trade marketing.

“I am very proud and excited to start this next chapter in my career. I am thrilled to be able to do so whilst remaining within the TTC family, which I know and have a great passion for,” Cameron-SMith said.

“I want to thank Gavin Tollman for an amazing eight years of support at Trafalgar. I look forward to working with the AAT Kings and Inspiring Journeys teams to build on the current momentum.”

TTC chief exec for Australia, John Veitch, said Cameron-Smith played an integral role in the success of Trafalgar over the past eight years.

“His strong commercial skills and business acumen, strategic thinking, internal and external stakeholder relations, motivational leadership style and passion for our brands will be a real asset to AAT Kings and Inspiring Journeys,” Veitch said.

“We are delighted that he has progressed within the TTC family.”

Trafalgar will commence the search for the new managing director of its market leading brand in Australia.

“This is an incredible and unique opportunity to join the global leader in Guided Holidays across all seven continents,” Gavin Tollman, CEO of Trafalgar said.

“We are calling upon the industry for an innovator to take our 72-year Legacy and continue to drive the ongoing success and evolution of our brand, look after our valued Agent Partners and present The Good Life to our 5 million+ happy guests.”
