First #ChooseCruise winners announced!

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has revealed the first winners of its Choose Cruise promotion, as it kicks off the river cruise leg of its month-long cruise celebration.

New Zealand agency Quay Cruise has won a P&O Cruises holiday for its efforts in promoting cruising during #ChooseCruise ocean week.

The team promoted a range of ocean cruise deals in the NZ Herald, did a postcard letterbox drop, an ocean cruise themed newsletter, some social media posts and are hosting information nights on cruising during October.

Now in its the second week, Choose Cruise month will shift the spotlight over to river cruising, promoting it as a relaxing alternative to the fun and excitement of ocean-based cruising.

“In our fast-paced world, many holidaymakers are seeking an easy holiday that delivers the chance to truly unwind, relax and discover new places,” CLIA Australasia & Asia Managing Director Joel Katz said.

“The answer is a river cruise. Sailing along a river from the comfort of a modern vessel is one of life’s simple joys. Once guests are aboard their vessel, they unpack once and watch the world go by as beautiful destinations are delivered to their doorstep each day.

“Best of all, most travel arrangements are taken care of with meals, excursions and transport usually included in the fare.

“As the sector grows in popularity, river cruise operators are constantly launching new vessels and expanding their product offering to capture more of the cruise market. Solo, active, senior and millennial travellers are all catered for, as are foodies and families.

“There really is a vessel and an itinerary to suit every traveller and a CLIA travel agent is in the best position to match holidaymakers with the right river cruise for them.”

This week (October 9-15), CLIA travel agents and river cruise operators are offering great deals from the Rhone to the Rhine and the Mekong to the Ganges as part of CLIA’s #ChooseCruise promotion. Luxury and expedition cruising will be promoted in the coming weeks.
