Shark attacks honeymooners in the Caribbean

It’s a honeymoon horror! Groom captures a shark taking a hunk of his bride’s arm on video!

Nope nope nope!!

If this isn’t like a scene out of the Jaws flicks, then we don’t know what is. This is one of those terrifying incidents we hear about that keep us at Travel Weekly out of the water for weeks.

Sarah Illig and husband Evan Carroll were on their honeymoon in the Caribbean, when Sarah was savagely attacked by a nurse shark.

A casual swim to cool down in turned Jaws-esque, as Sarah tried to fight off and swim away from a hungry shark. She initially thought Evan was playing a trick on her (gulp, if only!), before realising that it was in fact a huge shark taking a bite of her arm.

Evan captured the entire thing on camera.

“I felt a whoosh of water, something clamped down on my arm and I assumed my husband was playing a prank on me,” Sarah told The Sun UK.

“Less than a second later I realised how much it hurt and looked past where my goggles were blocking my side vision to see the shark (bigger than myself) latched on to my arm.

“I pulled away and got out of there.”

Fortunately the Sarah wasn’t seriously injured, and the newlyweds were able to put a humourous spin on the scary ordeal. Evans shared pictures of Sarah’s bloody wounds to social media, with the joke “Ended the honeymoon with a bang (bite).”

“Check out the surprise and very rare nurse shark bite in the video and don’t forget the volume to hear the crunchhhhh.”

“Only had a bunch of flesh wounds along my arm. We were worried about staph or another infection but it’s healing great!”

“So glad we did (film it) because no one would believe it!! Scared the heckkkkk out of me!” Sarah said.

“Evan had the GoPro under water filming and couldn’t even tell it happened since he was above water!”

Well with our christmas party happening on a boat this afternoon we might stay out of the water just in case one of us don’t return to Travel Weekly in 2018…
