CLIA gives Oprah run for money with prize giveaway

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasia has an incentive to get Australian and New Zealand travel agents promoting cruising, with the launch of the inaugural Plan A Cruise Month.

Agents who get involved this October will have the chance to win cruises and cash prizes.

Revealing details of the new month-long cruise campaign, CLIA Australasia Commercial Director Brett Jardine said the organisation was creating a range of great incentives to encourage agents to become involved in the promotion.

All deposited cruise bookings made by CLIA agent members during October will go in the draw to win a weekly prize, with four cruises and four double passes to the 2017 CLIA Cruise Industry Awards up for grabs throughout the month.

Meanwhile all member agents’ social media and marketing efforts which incorporate #cruisemonth will go in a weekly draw to win $1000 in co-op marketing funds.

More details about the promotion will roll out on September 9 when participating agents will be able to access a digital Plan A Cruise Month pack via the members’ page on the CLIA website.

Content in the pack will include a calendar of events and promotions, a customisable press release for use with local media, customisable social media posts, a selection of cruise images and logos, as well as assets to create weekly email send outs.

Participating agents will also be sent links to cruise line deals throughout October.

The competition is designed to boost agent involvement in the inaugural Cruise Month, which aims to raise consumer awareness of cruising and promote CLIA agent members as cruise experts.

“Our annual Cruise Week has always been a big hit with the trade, but now that it’s been transformed into a global month-long campaign we’ve created even more reasons for agents to get involved,” Jardine said.

Reflecting the growth of the cruise industry worldwide, Plan A Cruise Month replaces the shorter annual Cruise Week promotion and will be rolled out by CLIA offices around the world in October in the first international coordination of the promotion.
