Magellan Travel Group has posted a record profit of $8.8 million for FY2015, up 48% year-on-year.

The travel group welcomed 22 new agents throughout the year ending 30 June 2015, and also took home the coveted trophy of Best Non-Branded Agency Group at the National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA) last month.

“This eclipses our earlier forecast of an $8 million profit and demonstrates that not only does our Group continue to grow but so too do our members” Magellan Travel Group ceo, Andrew Macfarlane, said.

Macfarlane said the profit result “demonstrates that Magellan Agents are bucking the industry trend and achieving growth despite the adverse market conditions being reported by others”.

The group is set to host its National Conference in Melbourne in mid-September, with Macfarlane adding “between now and then we will be distributing the nearly $9 million profit amongst our member Agents”.
