Thai hospitality comes to Doha

Thai hotel brand Centara Hotels & Resorts are expanding to the Middle East, bringing with it a slice of Thai-style hospitality.

The company has just signed a management contract with owner Al Bandary Hotel Management to create Centara Grand West Bay Hotel Doha, in the city’s newly-developed West Bay district.

From beginnings in Bangkok, Centara Hotels & Resorts has gone on to own and manage 48 deluxe and first-class properties across all of the major tourist destinations in Thailand, as well as a further 25 hotels and resorts in the Maldives, Vietnam, Bali, Sri Lanka, Qatar, Laos, Oman, Turkey and China.

Centara properties are known for being diverse and family-friendly, and for embodying a Thai cultural ethos. Known abroad for its warmth and graciousness, this ethos is something that Centara Hotels & Resorts deems an asset to its overseas properties.

“Centara is a Thai company, with its roots in The Kingdom’s society, and the perception of Thai hospitality is a very strong selling point internationally,” Thirayuth Chirathivat, ceo of Centara Hotels & Resorts, said.

The opening of the new Doha hotel is planned for 2016 and will feature Centara’s signature ‘Suan Bua’ restaurant, where diners can sample authentic, traditional Thai dishes with a contemporary touch. The global popularity of Thai cuisine is just one aspect of how Centara plans to initiate Doha into South East Asian culture. Forming part of a larger entertainment zone, Spa Cenvaree, Centara’s luxury spa partner, will blend traditional Thai-style interiors with the region’s traditional therapeutic ingredients and practices to create a super-sumptuous South East Asian spa experience.
