Cruise Shipping Asia-Pacific is set to host a comprehensive travel agent training program, presented by Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), which aims to help agents better understand the cruise industry’s value and potential, particularly in the Asian market.

The line-up of training sessions includes seminars for small business owners and agents, and tips on selling cruise destinations, with the event to take palce on November 20-21 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.

World-renowned chef Gordon Ramsay has officially opened the Hong Kong edition of his London dining establishment, Bread Street Kitchen & Bar, bringing British European favourites to the heart of Lan Kwai Fong.

Seating up to 90 people and holding 30 people at the bar, the venue was launched in partnership with Hong Kong restaurant group Dining Concepts, and marks Ramsay’s first venture into the Asian market.

Civil Aviation Safety Authority has launched a dangerous goods app for both Apple and Android devices, which highlights what can and cannot be carried on an aircraft, as well as which items are best checked-in instead of carried on board.

The app allows users to search for goods by name, with information and images provided to quickly assist travellers in their packing.

Adventure Associates has released a series of new adventures for 2015, which include experiences such as the festivals of the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan and cultural treasures of India.

The ‘Festivals of Bhutan and Treasures of India’ program includes a range of religious and cultural events, and visits to Ranthambore National Park and the palaces of Rajasthan, with 21 and 13-day tours available from February 2015.

TravelManagers’ personal travel manager and representative for Devonport Tasmania Melanie Whyte has been announced as one of four finalists for the 2014 Avis Travel Agent Scholarship.

Whyte has been a personal travel manager since 2012, and is TravelManagers’ fourth scholarship finalist since the company commenced operations in 2005.

Whyte will fly to Sydney for the judging of finalists and the awards dinner on October 21 at the Four Seasons Hotel for the announcement of the winner.
