Aussies love short trips to Melbourne
By admin

Victoria's capital has once again topped the list of Australia's favourite holiday destinations and is now Australia's most popular short-stay destination, according to new research from Roy Morgan.

According to the latest statistics, 6.1 % of Aussies took a short break holiday to Melbourne in the 12 months to November 2013. Sydney came second, attracting 5.4 % of the crowd, followed by the Gold Coast with 3.2 %.

The research suggested that the popularity of one to two night holidays is on the rise, almost certainly linked to cheap domestic airfares. It also highlighted other destinations within driving distance of airports such as NSW North Coast, Sunshine Coast, Hunter Valley, NSW South coast and the Great Ocean Road as popular options.
