Creative appoints new managing director
By admin

Creative Holidays has appointed a new managing director with James Gaskell, formerly of Travelocity, to pick up the reigns recently set down by Paul McGrath.

Gaskell has held a number of senior positions within the travel sector, with companies including Jetset Travelworld and Zuji, with experience across a range of international markets.

The Travel Corporation chief executive Australia John Weeks welcomed Gaskell to the team, with his appointment putting an end to an “extensive search” which began in October when McGrath announced he was leaving after 14 years with the company to take up a role with LendLease.

“James’ respected relationships with travel agents and expertise in digital, combined with his proven track record of innovation, growth and strategic thinking, clearly demonstrates his strong credentials for this position, making him the perfect person to lead the team at Creative Holidays,” Weeks said.

A major part of his challenge will be the digital evolution of the Creative brand, although the trade will remain a focus with Gaskell to introduce new industry initiatives and product features. He will also oversee the company’s ongoing transition from the Calypso booking system to a new web-based platform.
