Princess Cruises commercial director Alan Stuart has quit the cruise line after just 10 months in the role.

Carnival Australia chief executive Ann Sherry said Stuart made his decision “after considerable personal reflection”.

“In his short time with Carnival Australia, Alan built a strong and talented team for Princess Cruises and led them through a significant period of change,” she said. “This unified team is a legacy of Alan’s time with us and one we look forward to nurturing in the months and years ahead.”

Stuart’s last day will be July 11 with an external search for a replacement already underway.

Princess Cruises head of sales Brett Wendorf will take on the role of commercial director in the interim.

Stuart arrived at Princess Cruises with 20 years background in tourism and transport but with no cruising experience. He was executive general manager commercial with Skywest immediately prior to joining Carnival Australia.
