Easter hopes for Sunshine Coast as Tiger takes off
By admin

Tiger Australia today launched its new service from Melbourne to the Sunshine Coast after a two year absence, with local tourism confident it will boost visitation over the Easter period.

The four times weekly service will rise to seven times weekly from June 2013, adding 2520 weekly visitor seats through the airport.

Tiger head of communications, Vanessa Regan, said the carrier has so far seen strong sales for the Easter period.

"We're thrilled to put the Sunshine Coast back on Tiger's map just in time for Easter, one of the busiest times of year for air travel," she said.

Meanwhile, state minister for tourism, Jann Stuckey, said the four times weekly service would help meet demand from the important Victorian market.

"Victoria is a key interstate market for the region, with more than 40% of interstate holiday visitors to the Sunshine Coast hailing from the Garden State, according to the latest National Visitor Survey," she said.

"The new Tiger Airways' flights are perfectly timed to deliver a boost for the region in the build-up to the Easter holiday period."

The launch will be followed by a May marketing campaign to lure Melburnians to the Sunshine Coast during the winter months.
