Jetstar rejigs NZ routes as fleet grows
By admin

The introduction of a ninth Airbus A320 aircraft to Jetstar’s New Zealand fleet from November 15 will see the carrier boost capacity on selected domestic routes in addition to upping trans-Tasman services to Queenstown.

Jetstar reported “strong customer demand” as it increased capacity by 50,000 seats per month and announced the creation of 50 new jobs.

It will add 20 additional weekly return services between Auckland and Wellington, taking the route to 60. It will also add seven weekly services to its Auckland-Christchurch and Wellington-Christchurch routes taking them to 43 and 21 respectively.

Its Queenstown-Melbourne route will rise from three weekly services to four and Queenstown-Sydney from two to three.

Meanwhile, improved direct connections to Queenstown will see Jetstar’s five times weekly Christchurch-Queenstown service face the axe. Its Christchurch-Gold Coast route will be reduced from four to three services per week while Christchurch-Melbourne will go from eight to seven weekly services.
