Tourism WA boss calls it quits

Tourism Western Australia managing director Brodie Carr has announced his resignation to move back to France with his wife and family.

Carr, who joined Tourism WA in October 2018, said in a statement that the decision to relocate was a “difficult” one.

“As some of you may be aware, my wife Julie is French and, with all the uncertainty in the world, she needs to be close to her family,” he said.

“I am an extremely proud and passionate West Australian and it has been an honour to promote Western Australia as the best state in Australia. We have achieved so much in the past two years.

“We were on an incredible upward trajectory before COVID-19 hit, but I leave knowing that the tourism industry is in an incredible position as it recovers from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and I look forward to watching on as Tourism WA continues to grow and prosper under new leadership.

“I’m not sure what my next adventure will be, but I do know that before I took this job, I was selling WA every day in my travels around the world, and that will never cease for me.

“Thanks for an amazing two years.”

Tourism WA is set to announce who will replace Carr in an acting capacity “shortly”, while recruitment for its new managing director is already underway.
