New-look Tigerair Unveiled today- CEO Rob Sharp announces new uniforms, new aircraft and new customer innovations to make flying Tigerair better than ever at Melbourne Airport today. Pictured are the crew and CEO with the new aircraft which was revealed to media at the Tigerair base earlier this morning.

The transformation of Tigerair Australia continues as the low cost carrier unveiled a raft of changes designed to enhance its consumer appeal.

At its head office at Melbourne Airport this morning, the airline’s chief executive Rob Sharp announced new uniforms, a new booking system, “customer-friendly” website, improved call centre and a 14th Airbus A320 aircraft to join its fleet.

The new features represent the “next chapter” of Tigerair Australia’s evolution, according to Sharp.

“When we rebranded to Tigerair and the joint venture with Virgin Australia was first launched in July 2013, we made a promise to Australian consumers that we would listen and we would change,” he said.

“The past couple of years have been focused on rebuilding the business and putting the right platform in place for future sustainable growth, with the customer at the core of everything we do.”

Sharp insisted the airline is delivering on its promises. He pointed to its punctuality record, customer service and customer satisfaction levels as key indicators of how it has improved.

“A Tiger can change its stripes,” he said.

The new A320 will be based in Sydney from December 8 and will help the airline increase its domestic network with additional services from Sydney to both Cairns and Adelaide.

Other changes announced today were the enhancement of customer communications including SMS notifications and flight itineraries, as well as a new mobile app which will be unveiled in the coming months.

But that doesn’t mark the end of the transformation, Sharp promised.

“Today Tigerair takes another giant leap forward but we won’t stop in our quest for continual improvement in everything we do,” he said.

The airline will soon launch a new brand advertising campaign in its key markets to highlight the changes that are underway.
