The hotel forcing travellers to live in the moment

The Ayana Resort & Spa in Bali has taken a rather drastic step to ensure its visitors unwind in the most stressfree environment possible.

They’ve decided to ban all electronic devices from one of their poolside areas.

While this may sound like actual hell to many travellers, there’s no denying that being so connected to work and our responsibilities through our phones can act as a barrier to the relaxation we’re seeking when we go on holidays.

The resort’s ‘In the Moment’ campaign stipulates that all devices, from cameras to smartphones, are banned from the ‘River Pool’ from nine in the morning until five in the evening.

“Our intention is to preserve who we are by valuing human connection and me-time,” a spokesperson for the Resort told Lonely Planet.

“The ethos of the River Pool is to create a place of tranquillity, where our guests can truly relax.”

The resort has introduced signage to alert guests of the new rule, as well as providing lockers where they can store their devices.

They’ll even provide particularly restless guests with real-life games like chess, sudoku, cards and Jenga.

But with views like this, we can’t imagine being bored.
