New boutique hotel for Surry Hills

Hip restaurateurs are behind the latest trendy hotel to open in Sydney.

Hip Reuben Hills café owner, Russell Beard and Melbourne coffee entrepreneur Mark Dundon along with property investor Ping Jin Ng are said to be behind a new boutique hotel slated to open in Sydney’s trendy Surry Hills neighbourhood in 2016.

According to a report in Good Food this morning, the still unnamed project is expected to take 12 months to build, with the finished product to house 30 hotel rooms with its entrance through the Paramount Pictures building.

Beard told Good Food that “while comparisons between the project and the Ace hotel in Portland are flattering, he’s keen for its design to have a local, approachable flavour.”

Good Food reports the trio are already in talks with a leading Sydney bar-restaurant operator to fill its ground floor space.
