Magellan Travel boss exits after 12-year stint, replacement named

Aussie travel agent network Magellan Travel has today farewelled its longstanding general manager Andrew Macfarlane.

Magellan confirmed the retirement of Macfarlane after more than 12 years at the Helloworld-owned company to Travel Weekly.

Lisa Harrison has taken over as the new GM at Magellan, and has been working for the brand since last month to ensure a smooth handover.

Harrison was previously running her own consultancy, Three Little Birds Business Consulting, for roughly three-and-a-half years.

However, she will be a familiar face to many at Helloworld, having worked as its national manager of network development and as the GM of wholesaling for The AOT Group.

The leadership change at Magellan change comes after Helloworld CEO and managing director Andrew Burnes said he expects “dramatically reduced” competition from the company’s rivals to result in a boom time for its agencies in 2021.
