Celebrity Cruises clarifies rumours around Pullmantur revival

Ocho Rios, Jamaica - April 22, 2019: Cruise Ship Pullmantur Monarch docked in the tropical Caribbean island of Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

Celebrity Cruises has denied rumours that it will lease or sell any of its ships to Pullmantur.

The Spanish cruise brand, which filed for insolvency earlier this year, has submitted a restructuring plan to Spanish authorities.

Cruise Industry News reported the line is attempting to make a comeback and is in talks to pick up two Celebrity ships if the restructuring is green-lighted, seeing as it has already begun the process of scrapping its own ship.

It is being reported that documents have surfaced showing a financial deal between Royal Caribbean and Pullmantur to continue operations with a new business plan and future cruise program for booked guests.

However, a spokesperson for Celebrity Cruises said that despite its support for the Pullmantur’s revival, it has not agreed to sell or lease any of its ships.

“While we fully support the reorganisation efforts of Pullmantur and continue to work productively with Pullmantur as it develops its new business plan, it is important to clarify that we have not agreed to lease or sell any of our ships, including any Celebrity Millennium-class ships, to Pullmantur,” the spokesperson said.
