Kenya riding high on Aussie arrivals

Kenya is in the midst of a tourism bonanza from the Australian market with a 25.7% year on year lift on January to September visitor arrivals. The first six months of 2016 also saw numbers boom, rising 18.9%.

Visitor figures released by the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) showed that the month of September alone saw a 42.9% rise on Australian visitors year on year. This comes on the back of the KTB’s in-market campaigns and initiatives, ongoing trade support and a growing trend for African safari holidays.

“We have been focused on promoting all the amazing things that a holiday in Kenya offers through digital campaigns and PR. We want as many Aussies as possible to tick a Kenyan safari off their bucket list so we are very pleased with these figures,” KTB representative Bart Druitt said.

“We are currently working on an exciting brand awareness campaign that includes a documentary, editorial, advertising and digital which will enter the market in the coming months to further grow these arrivals, so watch this space,” Druitt added.
