‘I wanna try it!’ – Internet goes WILD over the world’s largest plastic slide

If you are of a certain millennial age persuasion you may remember rainbow road on Nintendo’s Mario Kart.

Evidently created by someone fresh from an acid trip, rainbow road allowed you to drive your kart merrily over a twisting, luminous, multi-coloured road suspended in space, all whilst listening to mildly aggressive techno music.

If your adult life is so empty and devoid of fresh experiences that you frequently find yourself thinking about rainbow road, then fear not because you can now experience a real-life rainbow slide.

That’s right! Tired of having to find new ways to market Patacones, Colombia’s tourist community got together and created the world’s longest rainbow slide.

Known locally as Deslizador Arcoíris the 200m (656 feet) – yes you read that right – slide is nestled in the south American country’s southwestern city of Gigante.

Riders descend the slide on a large inflatable ring whilst protecting their brain by wearing a helmet (we wouldn’t recommend going here if you’re trying to look cute on a date). If they are lucky they might get a chance to witness the lush Colombian countryside, before being dumped unceremoniously into a big pit of soft balls.

How fast you go is dependent on your weight so best load up on some Patacones if you are looking for a slower descent.

Predictably social media, which is mainly full of people avoiding their jobs, has gone wild at the sight of the massive slide.

“That looks so fun!’ one user commented, whilst another said “I wanna try it!”

“Looks insane😮” a third commented. Others were taken in by the scenery saying “this is Columbia? It’s beautiful!”

Whilst there is another rainbow slide near El Salvador, the one near Gigante is the longest in the world. So, if you are going to ride down a rainbow slide you might as well go all in.
