Five people have died following an accident at a popular resort in Bali.

All of those killed were staff members at Ayuterra Resort in Ubud.

According to reports, the victims had climbed into a glass elevator when its cable snapped, sending the group 100 metres down an embankment.

Two of the staff died at the scene, three others died later in hospital.

The resort is listed with Qantas Hotels as being CHSE-certified.

CHSE Certification is the process of granting certificates to tourism businesses, tourism destinations, and other tourism products to provide reassurance to visitors to the island of Bali on the implementation of Hygiene, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability.
