Experience Indonesia at Aman’s luxury resorts

Amandari, Indonesia - Resort Swimming Pool
Edited by Travel Weekly

Aman Resorts brings its brand of luxury hotels to Indonesia with locations that offer an opportunity to engage with the archipelago’s diverse and ancient cultures.

They have also crafted a calendar of new experiences inspired by each resort’s story and setting. This includes culinary collaborations at Amandari in preparation for its 35-year celebration in Ubud, the opening of Arva at Amankila, golfing adventures at Aman Villas and swimming with whale sharks from Amanwana at Moyo’s tropical shores.

    Amandari, Bali

Amandari, Aman’s second resort, is located above Ayung River Gorge in Bali’s lush highlands. The resort celebrates its 35th anniversary in October and has undergone subtle refurbishments in light of this. The resort’s relaunched library now features a special gallery dedicated to its history. Archival photos reveal architect Peter Muller’s vision for Amandari dating back to the 1970s

Aman is holding multiple culinary events in the build-up to the anniversary dinner with monthly Purnama (Full Moon) feasts, a ‘four hands dinner’ with Amandari Chef Iwan joined by Esa Head Chef Adiyta Muskita, and many more. They also partnered with Bali spirit company Karusotju and The Talasi, a coffee plantation on the slopes of Mount Batukaru, for limited-edition drinks.

    Amankila Bali

Amankila continues the theme of collaboration with a number of culinary events in celebration of Aman’s signature restaurant, Arva, arriving at the resort. Arva is renowned worldwide for serving ‘cucina del raccolto’ or harvest-style cuisine. They have also refreshed the poolside setting of The Terrace for a new dining destination with the same picturesque sea views.

On June 14, Amici in Seminyak hosts an exclusive, guest-chef-led dinner with Arva’s Chef Cihan joining forces with Chef Allessandro of Amici with priority reservations offered to Aman Villas at Nusa Dua guests.

From August, a new dining experience takes place at Ujung Water Palace with The Karangasem Royal Dinner. This multi-course experience features royal Balinese dishes accompanied with beautiful views of the palace grounds and the surrounding landscape.

    Amanjiwo, Central Java

Amanjiwo rests on the foothills of the Menoreh Hills, providing views of Borobudur and offers a spiritually enriching experience of Indonesia’s cultural heartland.

Now for the first time, Amanjiwo offers an exclusive visit to Keraton Yogyakarta – the Yogyakarta Royal Palace. Discover this historic centre of learning through two new unique experiences. A Keraton Royal lunch where favourite dishes of the first Sultan of Yogyakarta are served in the home of the prince.

The second, reveals the secrets of chronograms known as Sengkalan, traditionally used in inscriptions to signify a given year. In a special room inside the palace, Kanca Kabujanggan, the Royal Historian of Keraton Yogyakarta, explains how certain words were assigned a specific number, and poetic phrases formed of these words to describe and date particular events.

    Amanwana, Moyo Island

The Amanwana resort is a natural paradies on Moyo Island, perfect for private group escapes. It offers 17 luxury guest tents designed by Jean Michel-Gathy and some of the best scuba diving and snorkeling in Indonesia. It is located a short distance Saleh Bay, a Unesco-protected site and home to one of the largest whale shark populations in the world.

The resort’s Whale Shark Excursion is part of its new Underwater Wellness Retreat, a first of its kind six-day retreat that harnesses the natural healing powers of water.

    Undiscovered Indonesia

An exclusive offer combining up to four Aman destinations across the archipelago, Undiscovered Indonesia showcases the beauty and cultural diversity of this island nation. Each stay includes daily breakfast for two, return airport transfers, champagne on arrival, scheduled group wellness sessions, daily afternoon tea and a range of activities.
