Disgraced TV host “likely to be replaced” for Celebrity Cruises voyage

A controversial TV and radio host has been booted from hosting a Celebrity cruises voyage.

Chris Smith, who hosts shows for both 2GB and Sky News, was slated to lead a Celebrity Cruises voyage with his wife, celebrity dietician Susie Burrell.

However, concerning allegations of misconduct that have seen Smith suspended from both shows has cast doubt on the likelihood that his hosting duties will go ahead.

Smith and Burrell were set to hit the high seas in June for a jaunt around Italy and Croatia on Celebrity Constellation sponsored by 2GB.

The company that organised the cruise, Travelrite International, told Travel Weekly that Smith is “likely to be replaced” for the June sailing with a fellow 2GB host.

A spokesperson for the company said he wasn’t sure if Burrell would also be replaced as a decision is yet to be made.

However, the Daily Mail reported that Burrell left the family home with the couple’s twin sons on Sunday when news of his suspension broke.

Smith allegedly made lewd comments while intoxicated at a work Christmas party and reduced a female colleague to tears. Witnesses told The Daily Telegraph that he allegedly groped a woman.

He released an apology on Monday afternoon, blaming the events on his struggles with bipolar disorder and alcohol addiction.

“I am beyond gutted and devastated to know I have upset my colleagues after our Christmas party,” Smith said.

“I apologise profusely to the women I upset. That’s not the man I am at work, ever, as they will all attest. They have been so supportive to me and do not deserve such drunken treatment.”
