Aussie sport heroes to board Cunard’s latest wellness inspired sailing.

Cunard has announced a range of once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to get up close with Australian sports heroes and introduced a wellness concept for its popular Sporting Greats & Wellness Voyage.

An absolute highlight for any sports enthusiast and those with an interest in health and wellness, this event voyage on board the luxurious Queen Elizabeth is a first-of-its-kind for Cunard. It will give guests the opportunity to interact with some of Australia’s biggest sporting legends and enjoy a mind-nurturing wellness program.

“We are really excited about the variety of unique activities on board our Sporting Greats & Wellness Voyage,” Director, Cunard AU/NZ, Katrina McAlpine, said.

“We’ve created exclusive once-in-a-lifetime experiences where guests will be able to interact with our sport icons on a personal and engaging level.

“On top of that, sailing on the ocean is the perfect opportunity to switch off, get pampered and treat oneself well away from all the daily distractions and stresses.”

Get up close and personal with sports heroes

The sporting legends on board Queen Elizabeth include cricketer Brett Lee, AFL-champion Adam Goodes, Australia’s most successful female golfer Karrie Webb, sports presenter Mark Beretta and Amanda McLaren, daughter of the legendary race car driver and founder of McLaren Racing, Bruce McLaren.

During candid live talks, guests will relive edge-of-your-seat career moments, find out what it takes to be a top-flight athlete at the peak of your game and hear exceptional behind-the-scenes stories from the world of sports. Off stage, they will be more approachable than ever during unique, intimate activities on board and ashore.

Some of the exclusive experiences are:

  • Have a yarn with cricket legend Brett Lee at the ship’s Golden Lion pub or join him on a cricket-inspired shore excursion.
  • Challenge Adam Goodes to a couple of games such as shuffleboard, paddle tennis or croquet on the ship’s Games Deck.
  • Get valuable golfing advice from one of the best of the game, Karrie Webb.
  • Swing your golf club at some of Australia’s most premier and scenic golf courses including NSW Golf Club in Sydney, Royal Hobart Golf Club and Tasman Golf Club in Port Arthur.

Stimulating the body and mind

During this voyage, the unrivalled luxury of Queen Elizabeth will be the backdrop for a vast variety of tailored wellness activities for guests who seek to nurture their body and mind.

The Mareel Wellness & Beauty sanctuary is the place to be for guests to switch off in the sauna or steam rooms, rejuvenate during a massage and get pampered head to toe during a treatment.

Daily complimentary classes consisting of yoga, spinning, boot camp followed by a session in the thermal suite, stretching and aerobics classes give guests an array of daily movement activities, and for some fun activities with a competitive edge the expansive Games Deck features paddle tennis, croquet, shuffleboard or lawn bowls.

During dance classes, guests can learn new skills to impress during one of Cunard’s popular Gala Nights. To refuel following a workout, the bars on board Queen Elizabeth offer delicious and healthy smoothies and fresh juices.

Guests can also learn valuable tips about wellness, fitness, health, and nutrition during insightful talks from dedicated experts.
