Digital travel platform Agoda has shared the cheapest routes that were booked on the platform in early August by travellers from Australia.

Zsuzsanna Janos, director, Oceania at Agoda: “It’s great to see travellers finding such amazing flight deals on Agoda. These bargains show there are real deals to be found if you are prepared to be flexible with carrier, route, and timing. Pricing of course changes with demand, and we seek to get the best prices available for wherever you want to fly. Domestic, regionally, or cross continents.”

The most affordable flights from Australia:

Domestic: Ballina Byron Bay Gateway (BNK) -> Sydney (SYD), $44

The cheapest domestic flight in Australia was from Ballina Byron Bay Gateway to Sydney and was available for a mere $44.

Regional: Sydney (SYD) -> Fiji Islands (NAN), $223

Despite being a 4-hour long journey, a flight from Sydney to Fiji was recently booked for no more than $223.

Intercontinental: Perth (PER) to Kuala Lumpur (KUL), $183

Even cheaper than the regional option was an intercontinental flight from Perth to Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur. The flight from Perth to Kuala Lumpur lasts around 5 hours and 45 minutes and was recently booked for $183.

Agoda looked at the total fare per passenger, including taxes and surcharges, in ten markets across Asia Pacific. The fares are the cheapest fares from actual bookings made on Agoda between 1 and 14 August and for travel in September and October this year.

For 8 out of the 10 researched markets, Australian destinations are the most affordable option for an intercontinental trip. Out of the ten markets, a $19 flight from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore is the cheapest regional option, with Delhi to Dubai being the most affordable intercontinental flight at $141.

Lowest flight fares for departures in September – October, booked between 1-14 August 2023 in USD (Agoda)
