Traveltek sets sights on APAC

UK firm Traveltek has confirmed it will farewell current regional director Australia and Pacific region, Tim Poulter, with immediate effect, but said the move was necessary to grow its regional presence.

The internet technology and cruise sector specialist has secured a new regional office in Blue Street, North Sydney to house a growing team of specialist technical account and project managers to grow its local operations.

Chief executive Kenny Picken said the firm's wholesale cruise distribution product had been "hugely successful" since it entered the Australian market three years ago.

"However, Traveltek is also a major player in flights, hotels and ancillary products and therefore, we need to extend our reach and commitment to Australia by launching our global support service to a 24/7/365 operation and by expanding our team of professionals within Australia," he said.

"Unfortunately this means the departure of Tim Poulter, formerly our regional director. We are sad to be losing Tim but our success has created the need to increase our support of our clients in Australia and New Zealand."

Picken described Sydney as the "perfect base" to expand Traveltek's local and international reach.
