Rail Plus jostles for Rocky Mountaineer influx
By admin

Rail Plus has outlined a strategy to ”piggyback” off Rocky Mountaineer’s high-spend advertising set to saturate the Australian market over the next two months.

“Rocky are doing an incredible job marketing their product in Australia so we are thinking lets piggyback off that marketing and gear ourselves up to take the influx of those enquiries,” Rail Plus general manager Greg McCallum said.

Speaking to Travel Today at the launch of the 2015 Rocky Mountaineer season, McCallum said Rail Plus wants to be viewed by the trade as the Rocky Mountaineer experts.

”Why not piggyback off those advertising dollars, there is going to be enormous interest in the market place,” McCallum said.

Rocky Mountaineer represents Rail Plus’ third most lucrative sector, with top honours taken out by the Eurostar London to Paris and return. Vancouver to Banff is third most lucrative due to the average transaction size.

Rocky Mountaineer bookings with Rail Plus have also increased by 30% year on year.

“We’ve always been European specialists but we want people to understand that we are a train company so don’t discount us for the Rocky Mountaineer,” McCallum said.

Two agents won a seven-night trip to Canada aboard the Rocky Mountaineer at last night's launch, pictured below.
