Qantas strikes $400K Queensland deal
By admin

Qantas has struck a $400,000 marketing deal with the Queensland Government as it keeps true to its pledge to work with directly with states rather than with Tourism Australia.

A campaign will be rolled out over the next two months in collaboration with Tourism and Events Queensland.

It will focus on attracting visitors to Brisbane, Gold Coast, Cairns and Townsville.

"Queensland has had another tough summer with the floods," Qantas Domestic chief executive Lyell Strambi said. "However the message from this campaign is that these destinations are open for business."

He added that Qantas was in talks with the state government over "further opportunities".

Qantas late last year withdrew its marketing support from Tourism Australia following a dispute over TA chairman Geoff Dixon's involvement with a group of investors briefing against the airline.

The carrier said it would continue to work with states.
