Corinne Namblard has stood down from her position as director of the Qantas board, following reports of corruption allegations in Italy. While Namblard reportedly "strenuously denied" any wrongdoing during her time as chief executive of Luxembourg-based Galaxy Fund, chairman Leigh Clifford said she was concerned that the media focus on the matter would "distract Qantas from implementing its strategic imperatives".

 

Wendu Wu Tours has said passengers travelling from Australia to Europe or the US via China can spend up to 72 hours in Beijing or Shanghai without a visa, provided proof of onward travel can be shown.

 

Skywest shareholders will convene on March 13 to vote on Virgin Australia's proposed "scheme of arrangement" for the acquisition of the regional carrier, following an order of the High Court of Singapore issued on Friday.

 

Emirates one-off A380 service flew from Dubai to Barcelona yesterday, the first time the airline has operated the aircraft into Spain. The A380 service will also operate on March 1, but the airline confirmed it has no plans to operate the aircraft on the route in the near future.

 

Air Pacific has confirmed the first batch of local pilots designated to fly its soon-to-arrive A330 aircraft, are currently undergoing six weeks of intensive training at the Airbus facility in Miami.
