Fiji Airways livery unveiled

Air Pacific has unveiled the new livery and features of its new Airbus 330 aircraft, which will take to the skies in 2013 under the Fiji Airways moniker.

The airline will take delivery of three A330s in March, May and November.

Chief executive Dave Pflieger told Travel Today the new design would make passengers “truly feel like they’re going to Fiji as soon as they step on board the plane”.

The exteriors will be marked with three Masi symbols created to represent the airline. The Teteva motif at the heart of the new brandmark, designed by renowned Fijian Masi artist Makereta Matemosi, was unveiled in August.

The aircraft will be equipped with Rolls Royce Trent 700 engines, with seats designed by Zodiac Aerospace/Weber, featuring in-seat power and an “advanced” Panasonic in-flight entertainment system.

Interiors will be personalised with Fiji Airways colours, material and lighting.

“It will help us even further enhance the brand of Fiji and us as a means to get there,” Pflieger said.

Meanwhile, he confirmed the return to the airline’s former brand, abandoned in 1981, had received a “fantastic” reception from both the Fijian people and the trade, prompting his decision to hold the launch of the new livery on Fiji’s Independence Day.

“It’s like we’re giving the country its airline back,” he said.

“We gave the name Air Pacific a 31 year go, but it didn’t help sell the country or sell us as an airline. Now we have a name that will help us sell both.”

The full rebranding is due for completion by the end of 2013.
