InterContinental launches graffiti ballroom

InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto has relaunched its refurbished graffiti ballroom and conference space, with the newly named The Laneway Rooms adding to the hotel’s distinct Melbourne design.

Inspired by Melbourne’s iconic laneway graffiti, the hotel’s ballrooms have been revamped to feature a 40 x 5-metre graffiti installation centrepiece.

The restoration saw the iconic luxury Melbourne hotel strip the interior walls back to its original 1890s brickwork, commissioning Melbourne laneway artists at The Blender Studios to graffiti the laneway directly outside the ballroom windows.

“The Laneway Rooms are a unique addition to InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto’s iconic Melbourne architecture, a beautiful fusion of historic opulence with cutting-edge Melbourne style,” hotel manager Sebastian Germershausen said.

The Laneway Rooms comprise of three separate event rooms which can also be opened up into a large ballroom, catering from business conferences to social events and wedding receptions for up to 370 guests.
