Insight Vacations has farewelled its dedicated India brochure as it launched its inaugural Exotics Collection featuring all itineraries on the subcontinent along with Jordan, Israel, Turkey, Egypt and Morocco.

“People are after something that is a little bit unique and 'exotic' is a term that drives interest,” managing director Joost Timmer told Travel Today. “India is very up and coming, but we just wanted to build a mechanism or a vehicle to bring in other exotic destinations – it gives us a base to build on in the future.”

The number of Indian itineraries has been expanded in response to the overwhelming success of the program, now entering its third year. Sales of India product have doubled over the last year, Timmer revealed. New product includes Colours of Rajasthan and Mystical South India – both 11 days in length.

Bhutan debuts in the new brochure as a standalone destination for the first time with the launch of the 11-day Bhutan Dragon Kingdom itinerary. Timmer was keen to stress the luxurious nature of the tour, unlike many others within the country that has only recently opened up to tourism.

In addition, the growing prevalence of Gulf carriers which sees travellers making their way to a variety of destinations around the world now transit in the Middle East has prompted Insight to include a range of stopover stays in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The ever-expanding range of Signature experiences continues to be a focus for the company, with this new brochure including the addition of a cooking demonstration in Olympia to the 14-day Treasures of Greece & the Islands itinerary among others.

Meanwhile, Insight hopes to give a substantial boost to sales of its India program with the launch of a series of webinars to help the trade get to grips with the destination.

“Our ground handlers in India will provide some insight into the products that they offer,” Timmer explained.

The next webinar will be held on December 10 with agents able to request more information or reserve a place by emailing marketing@insightvacations.com

The incorporation of augmented reality capability also aims to better communicate the experiences on offer. Users of IOS and Android devices simple need to download the ‘layar’ app from the app store and then hover over the brochure page on India to be taken to some video clips of the destination designed to inspire and illuminate.
