A ceasefire in the battle over domestic airfares continues to benefit Qantas, despite a drop in passenger numbers.

The airline on Tuesday said average airfares per passenger, known in the industry as yield, rose again in November, the third straight month of increases.

Both its domestic and international divisions achieved higher yields, as the number of available seats dropped by 2.6 per cent.

Passenger numbers also fell in November, by 1.1 per cent to 4.05 million.

Qantas shares were up 6.5 cents, or 2.9 per cent, at $2.335 at 1200 AEDT.
