Cathay celebrates 20 years of flying to Adelaide
By admin

Cathay Pacific marked 20 years of flying to South Australia with the arrival of its 3,578th service into Adelaide yesterday.

Just as in 1992, a South Australian captain was at the controls of flight CX105. Captain Ben Briggs followed in the footsteps of Captain Trevor Burgess who flew the inaugural service from Hong Kong to Adelaide.

The Hong Kong-based airline celebrated the milestone with a crowd of 100 people which included its new general manager southwest Pacific Dominic Perret, along with Vince Scanlon from Adelaide Airport Limited and Karyn Kent from South Australian Tourism Commission.

“We have a great partnership with South Australia, not only in terms of commitment to Adelaide and to bringing tourists to the State, but also taking South Australians to the rest of the world,” Perret said.

The airline anticipates it will bring 50,000 people into Adelaide during the 2012 calendar year.
