Amadeus sees sharp rise in LCC bookings

Amadeus has reported a rise in first quarter earnings, helped by a sharp increase in low cost carrier bookings.

The technology firm said its adjusted profit for the three months to March climbed 5% to 176.3 million Euros as total revenue rose 4% to 795m Euros.

Travel agency flight bookings increased 3% to $119.5m but non-air sales declined 5.5% to $15.5m.

Amadeus claimed its global share of flight bookings through agents rose 1.6 percentage points to 39.8%, helped by a 22% increase in low cost airline bookings.
