The addition of Dolphin Dynamics to Amadeus' range of mid and back office products will see the technology firm attempt to better cater for medium to large businesses.

The new three-year regional agreement sees Amadeus offer pre-sales, training and support for UK-based firm Dolphin in the same way as it already does for "home-grown" solutions VTO, Travelog and Tramada.

"It's the culmination of about 15 months of work," an Amadeus spokesperson told Travel Today. "We really wanted to bring in another solution and we felt Dolphin was a good fit from both a flexibility and cultural perspective."

While the product has the capacities for use by tour operators and online travel agents, Amadeus will intially concentrate on introducing it to the leisure and business travel sectors, with it more suited to medium to large enterprises due to its complexity.

The "highly configurable" and scalable nature of Dolphin makes it more efficient, according to the technology firm, with an integral inbox to "keep consultants focused on the right task".

"By cutting out the need for manual intervention, the integrity of data is maintained which makes everything a lot easier for everyone," the spokesperson said.

The solution is already used by House of Travel in New Zealand and STA Global, but the first customer to adopt Dolphin under the new arrangement is Melbourne-based corporate travel agency, Sean Simmons Travel. Since he implemented the system, Simmons has reported a 40% increase in staff productivity. In addition, he is confident the product is well suited to adapt to the changing needs of his business as it evolves and grows.

To support the new platform, Amadeus has appointed new business management solutions consultant Claire Rimmer, who has 10 years experience implementing the system for STA global. She is also the face of Amadeus' new series of video seminars which are now loaded on its YouTube channel to help agents get to grips with the new tool.

Meanwhile, the firm stressed the addition of Dolphin to its mid office solutions suite will not see focus taken from the other brands, with different agencies possessing different requirements.

"One size does not fit all," the spokesperson said. "Agencies differ in a lot of ways."
