AFTA still waits on TCF audit ruling

AFTA still waits on TCF audit ruling
By admin

Travel agents are still in the dark over whether they will have to complete their Travel Compensation Fund audit for 2012/13.

With just days left of the financial year, the Australian Federation of Travel Agents said it has still not been notified whether any change to the TCF Trust Deed will eliminate the need for agents to lodge an audit.

Gary O’Riordan, AFTA’s general manager overseeing the new AFTA accreditation scheme, said it may learn tomorrow if agents are off the hook.

AFTA had hoped to be told by the end of last week of any change to the Trust Deed.

“It is a critical issue for agents and we are very close to the end of the financial year,” O’Riordan told Travel Today.

O’Riordan earlier said AFTA had been led to believe the industry will not be required to complete the annual financial return. But until that has been confirmed agents will be on tenterhooks.

“What we believe is that industry will not be required to do their annual financial return for 2012/13,” he said last week. “It will certainly be something the industry will be very positive about if it comes out that way.”
