Silversea’s Silver Nova: Setting the standard in modern cruising

Silversea’s Silver Nova: Setting the standard in modern cruising
Edited by Travel Weekly

Travel Weekly was privileged to be invited to Silversea’s Silver Nova’s Architectural Preview last week. More than merely a ship, the new cruiser symbolises a novel approach to sea exploration.

Silver Nova is an intimate ship, capable of housing up to 728 passengers across its 240+m length and 11 decks that will sail from Cairns in October ’24.

The ship is also ground-breaking in construction, an asymmetrical structure guarantees breathtaking views, enhancing the bond with the destinations and providing an unparalleled sense of vastness while a new ‘horizontal’ design increases the overall square meterage of the vessel.

Silver Nova is also one of the most environmentally conscious ultra-luxury cruise ships ever built, with a range of cutting-edge technologies. It is the first of the Silversea fleet to be powered by LNG (liquid natural gas) and capable of using shore power rather than burning more fuel when docked.

Silver Nova is in a league of its own, reflecting Silversea’s dedication to luxury and innovative voyages as well as Royal Caribbean Group’s broader Destination Net Zero campaign, which aims to achieve net zero emissions across its cruise brands, including Silversea, by 2050.

    Incredible Dining

Dining aboard the Silver Nova is an unmatched experience in luxury cruises. Silversea frequently joins forces with esteemed chefs and the local communities at their ports of call, delivering a genuine dining experience. The ship boasts diverse dining options ranging from fine dining establishments, specialty venues, to laid-back eateries, each offering a gamut of international and gourmet cuisines. These alliances with local communities ensure passengers relish distinctive tastes and cultural moments, enriching their voyage.

Silversea champions the idea of delving into the genuine splendours of the world, which encompasses understanding a region’s culture, customs, and cuisine. They perceive food as a portal to different cultures, granting profound insights into various destinations and crafting indelible travel memories.

This ethos is the driving force behind S.A.L.T (Sea and Land Taste Programme), which showcases global culinary wonders for its guests.

Through S.A.L.T., voyagers truly connect with their destinations, be it through farmhouse delicacies in Tuscany or foraging exploits in Asia. Onboard the Silver Nova, venues like the S.A.L.T. Lab, Kitchen, and Bar curate culinary journeys interwoven with the tales of each locale.
