NCL’s Walk for Wellness 2022 to launch in October

NCL’s Walk for Wellness 2022 to launch in October

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is inviting Australian and New Zealand travel partners to register for Walk for Wellness 2022, the cruise line’s third annual wellbeing initiative.

Walk for Wellness 2022 will run from 1-31 October, coinciding with National Mental Health Month and WHO World Mental Health Day on 10 October.

In recognition of the benefits of walking for mental wellbeing, whether solo or with colleagues, friends and family, travel agents are invited to join NCL staff and track their steps towards a collective goal of 140,000 kilometres. This goal builds on 2021’s achievement of 139,435 kms.

This year’s initiative is a celebration of the debut of the Norwegian Spirit in Australian and New Zealand waters, fresh from the most expensive and extensive refurbishment in NCL history. The in-app walking map will follow the journey Norwegian Spirit will take during her inaugural season in the region, sailing from Hawaii to Tahiti, then Australia and New Zealand.

NCL will reveal a series of weekly challenges along the way, including the major prize, an Oceanview Stateroom on board Norwegian Spirit’s 12-day Christmas cruise departing Sydney on 22 December which is her very first cruise Down Under.

“We are thrilled to reconnect with our travel community once again for the third annual Walk for Wellness,” Damian Borg, director of sales, NCL ANZ, said.

“We realise the issues confronting agents have changed. They are busier than ever but the need to look after their physical and mental wellbeing remains paramount.

“That’s why we’ve streamlined the 2022 program to make it simpler to join and participate in our community, and we’ve planned an incredible pool of prizes that will add real value to busy schedules.”

Walk for Wellness recognises that wellness means different things to different people, and that for many, the wellness of the environment is intrinsically linked to a personal sense of wellbeing.

“Walk for Wellness is always a space for fun and camaraderie, and this year, it’s also an opportunity to empower our travel partners and team members to tackle plastic pollution through our partnership with the not-for-profit organisation Take 3 for the Sea”, Borg continued.

“During the initiative, our Wellness Walkers will support Take 3 for the Sea’s goal to remove 50 million pieces of rubbish from our waterways by 2025 through a series of hands-on clean-up challenges that offer a practical way to look after themselves while taking action for the environment.”

Last year’s Walk for Wellness had more than 900 participants achieving a combined total distance of almost 140,000 kilometres and acknowledging the personal benefits of joining the challenge through more than 1500 shared comments and photos.

The initiative was named a finalist in the recent National Travel Industry Award (NTIA) for ‘Most Outstanding Marketing Campaign – Supplier’ with winners announced on 15 October.
